Bangalore to Cochin Cycling Tour

             Imagine yourself cycling through the tea plantations of Wayanad , wandering around the hilly sides of Coorg and crossing the heritage town Mysore. Escape to the slopes of Nilgiri and see the wildlife of Mudumalai National Park. This Cycling Tour take you to Sigur Ghats of Ooty and the villages of Coimbatore. Cycling through Pollachi and Valparai towards Kerala will fill your mind with cherishable memories.

Even though there are many other means of travel, Cycling is a better way to explore the cities. It’s a fun adventure activity and it gets you closer to countryside. Just travel peacefully through the scenic routes of South India. Cycle trip from Bangalore to Cochin will be an unforgettable experience for you! The roads, farm lands, villages, sunrise, sunsets and the nights, every city will give you a different experience.

Itinerary:

Day 01: Bangalore – Mysore (180 KMS)

Bangalore is one of the major cities of India, and it is the capital city of Karnataka. Reach Bangalore International Airport on your own and meet our representatives, who will assist you with the onwards bus journey to Mysore. Reach Mysore and check in to the hotel. Before heading out on a short city tour, our guide will brief you about the tour. Explore the Mysore Palace and stroll around local market. The city is famous for its heritage, sandalwood, Mysore Silk, and the Mysore Palace. Spend the night in Mysore.

Day 02: Mysore – Coorg (Cycling – 40 KMS)

After breakfast, we will hop on a bus to reach Bylakuppe. The town houses several Tibetan refugee settlements. Visit the Namdroling Monastery, home to nearly 5000 monks and nuns. We will have lunch here and start riding our bicycles towards our hotel through the city. We will spend the night at Coorg

Day 03: Coorg – Wayanad (Cycling -70 KMS)

We will have an early breakfast and start riding our bicycles to reach our next destination, Wayanad. The route is full of coffee and spice plantations till we reach Kutta, which acts a border between the two states, Karnataka and Kerala. We will cycle through the verdant forests of Tholpetty Wildlife Sanctuary to reach Kuruvadweep Island. On the way, stop and admire the wildlife, and flora of the forest which has rare bird species, herbal plants and orchids. After a short visit to the island, return to the resort and spend the night there.

Day 04 & Day 05: Wayanad – Mudumalai National Park ( Cycling :119 KMS)

Mudumalai is said to be one of the best places to experience the wildlife of South India. It is located in the foothills of Nilgiri and surrounded by several other protected areas. The park is an important part of Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve and is home to many wildlife animals like Elephants, Tigers, Leopards and Indian Gaurs. Spend both the days doing wildlife safaris and visit the elephant feeding centre.

Day 06: Mudumalai National Park – Ooty (Cycling 34 KMS)

Start riding to the Queen of Hills, Ooty. The road is pretty smooth for 13 KMS before your start climbing towards the mountain road of Nilgiri. After 36 hairpin bends, we will reach the top through the Sigur Ghats. This is the most challenging day of your journey; you can cycle as much as you wish, or choose to get on the Van.

Day 07: Ooty – Coimbatore (Cycling 89 KMS)

This day we will start riding through the tea plantations, admiring the views of Emerald and Avalanche Lakes. Ride along the scenic Western Catchment areas of Ooty. After descending the hilly terrain of Ooty, we will reach the city of Coimbatore. Stop and shop in the bustling markets of the city, before calling it a day.

Day 08: Coimbatore – Pollachi (Cycling 63 KMS)

Located in Coimbatore district, Pollachi is one of the best places to spend your vacations leisurely. The town offers scenic views of paddy fields and Coconut farm lands. Spend the night in a resort set amidst a coconut grove.

Day 09: Pollachi – Valparai (Cycling 68 KMS)

Valparai houses several tea and coffee estates and majority of locals work for the estates. The estates are surrounded by beautiful a forest which has a variety of flora and fauna. Valparai lies on the Anamalai Range; we will ride through the paddy fields and coconut farms until we reach Aliyar Dam. We will start riding upwards crossing 40 hairpin bends, cycle through the forest along the hills and reach our destination for the day.

Day 10: Valparai – Athirapally (Cycling 35 KMS)

Ride through the lush tea gardens, and you will have a chance to meet the workers and know more about their life. Today enter the Kerala state and get bewitched by the beauty of forest roads of Sholayar Range. The Athirapally Waterfalls are a sight to behold; spend some time by the waterfalls and check in  to the hotel at Athirappally.

Day 11 & 12: Athirapally – Cochin (63 KMS)

Today we leave the hills and head towards Cochin, surrounded by Arabian Sea. Riding through the coastal roads will be an amazing experience for you. Continue riding through the busy city till we reach Vypin Island. A small ferry will take us to the heritage town of Fort Kochi. Spend the next day exploring the city around and visit the old churches, Dutch Palace and synagogue. You can choose to see the traditional and cultural side of the city by watching some of the art forms of Kerala like Kathakali, Mohiniyaattam and Kalaripayattu.

Day 13: Cochin – Alleppey Houseboat (59 KMS)

Today is the last day of our Bangalore to Cochin Cycle Trip .Leaving behind the busy roads of Fort Cochin, you will hit the beach road that will take you to one of the most beautiful places in Kerala – Alleppey. Here you will clamber on to one of Kerala’s most luxurious forms of accommodation and transport, the houseboat. Alleppey known for its backwaters, and the most amazing way to experience the beauty of the place is by cruising on a houseboat through the backwater villages, paddy fields, lagoons, mangroves and lakes. Spending the night on a houseboat will be an amazing experience.

Day 14: Departure

Disembark from the houseboat and we will leave early in the morning and drop you at the Cochin International airport.

NB: You can cycle as much as you wish, or choose to get on the Van.
