KUTTANAD RIDE

Kuttanad, a land of lush paddy fields and is one of the few places in the world where farming is done below the sea level. This wetland is remarkable for its migratory bird population. There are network of brackish lagoons and canals allover, making duck rearing and fish farming a common source of livelihood.

Exploring the alluring beauty of paddy fields and backwaters through the country side trails on a bicycle can be unique and personal experience.“Smell, Sight, Taste, Heat, Wind, Just everything. That’s why it is amazing to travel in Kuttanad in Bicycle”

Riding schedule : 8 hours

8:30 am : Ride starting from Alappuzha to pallathuruthy bridge and then enters the church road along the banks of the lake.

9:15 am: Stop over at duck farm near church road. Guests can watch large folks of duck swimming and crossing the canals of backwaters.                                                                                                                                                                    

10:00 am :Reach Chempumpuram village and visit a paddy field there. Guests will receive a briefing on paddy cultivation techniques followed by the villagers.

10:45: Reach Padahaaram ferry via back roads alongside local canals and paddy fields of Chempumpuram and Vaisyambhagam village road. Guests along with cycles are carried to the other side with the help of ferry service. A fifteen minutes boat ride will be a mesmerizing experience. Throughout the journey guests can meet the villagers and students who depend on this ferry service to cover the 200 meter stretch of vembanad tributary.

11: 15: Stopover at Thennady for Refreshment with cut fruits and lemonade.

11:30 : Experiencing Net fishing in Pamba river. Toddy tapping at  the same scene. Followed by village trail ride.

1:00 am : Stop over for family visit and lunch and have a local meal on banana leaf. Guests given opportunity to interact directly to learn about their life and culture.

2:00 am: Stop over at Karumadikkuttan statue shrine. A 3 feet tall black granite statue of sreeBudha that dates back to 10th century AD. The historical relevance of the same will be explained to the guests.

2:30 pm: Stop over at Karumadikaavil temple, the temple of village goddesss called “Karumadi Devi”.History and folklores related to the temple will be shared with the Guets.

3:00 pm: Return ride to Alappuzha through the village road in kakaazham and paravoor.

4:30 pm:  Reach Alappuzha
