Kuttanad ,situated 3 kms away from the hustle bustle of Alleppey town is a land of lush paddy fields and is one of the few places in the world where farming is done below the sea level. This wetland is remarkable for its migratory bird population. There are network of brackish lagoons and canals all over, making duck rearing and fish farming a common source of livelihood. Cycling through the village trials in kuttanad , Witnessing the villagers lifestyle here ,will be a lifetime experience for the guests . During the three hours programme, Guests will be guided to have an easy ride through the gravel terrain of a remote village situated along the backwater side of kuttanad. Through out the ride activities like fishing, toddy tapping ,water wheels(Below sea level rice farming is unique, which is made possible by draining and filling the swamp with brackish water using small pumping units) Opportunity to interact directly with villagers to learn about their life and culture etc. , could be witnessed , which makes the ride indelible one.
Riding schedule : 3 hours
6:00 am : Ride starting from Alappuzha to pallathuruthy bridge and then enters the church road along the banks of the Vembanad lake.
7:15 am :Reach Chempumpuram village and visit a paddy field there. Guests will receive a briefing on paddy cultivation techniques followed by the villagers.
8:15 pm: Ride to Paravoor coastal village, where you can witness the livelihood activities of the fishermen village and ride along through the coastal road towards Alleppey
9 :00 pm: Reach Alleppey
Evening Schedule
