3 Hours Before Flight Time
On the first day of your Beach & Backwater Cycling Holiday in Kerala, you will be picked up from the Cochin International Airport and transferred to the hotel at Fort Cochin. After fitting out your bikes, you can spend your time exploring this heritage town of ancient churches, synagogue, museums and Chinese fishing nets. In the evening, you will witness the performance of classical dances of Kerala including Kathakali, Mohiniyattom and Kalari payattu.
After an early breakfast, you will commence your Beach & Backwater Cycling Holiday in Kerala. Today’s ride will take you along roads that have the fishing villages and coconut plantations on one side and the sea on the other. You will ride along the beach road that will take you to your destination for the day, a beautiful beach side resort. You could wind down by spending the afternoon on the beach.
After a relaxed breakfast, you head to Muhamma, known for its serene backwaters. The route passes through country roads and small villages where you will see coconut husk being processed and made into coir ropes and mats. You hit the backwaters and cycle along the waters till you reach the Muhamma jetty, where you will board in to a passenger Boat, which will take you to Kumarakom, the back water village. After the evening tea, take a walk through the paddy fields and meet the local people or take a ride to the nearby village market.
On this day of your Beach & Backwater cycling holiday in Kerala, you will be taken to a small village called Kaavaalam. After having Lunch here, You can cycle along the lush green banks of Vembanad lake and reach Pallathuruthy. Here, you will clamber on to one of Kerala’s most luxurious forms of accommodation and transport, the houseboat. Reclining on cushions and drifting through quiet canals, you will pass through paddy fields, teams of ducks, floating markets, local toddy shops, temples and churches. You will be having a peaceful night in the floating house (House boat).
